First layer — display on the language screen, in English, French and Dutch, before a language is chosen
{Venue legal name} is responsible for this service. Sergio, an AI-supported tool, suggests wines from this venue’s list. Your choices and QR-session interactions are recorded with a random session ID for up to 90 days; QR-session data are not sent to Google Gemini. Legal basis: the venue’s legitimate interest. You may object via the privacy contact. Full notice and privacy contact ›
Below it: the Venue’s legal name and privacy contact. “Full notice and privacy contact” opens the short notice below, with the Venue-specific information, in the language of the paragraph it ends.
Short notice — shown before the first recorded interaction; the second layer is available from the language screen and the bottom of the dish screen
How Sergio works. Sergio uses automated, AI-supported wine-profile matching to suggest up to three wines from this Venue’s own list based on the choices you make in this session. It is not a chatbot and it does not make decisions for you. Suggestions are informational only: they may not suit every taste or situation, and Venue staff confirm current price and availability.
Your data. This Venue uses Sergio to provide the suggestions and limited Venue insights. Sergio records a random session ID, the current choices and interactions described below for up to 90 days. The app does not ask for your name, email, payment, booking, loyalty number or table number. Guest session data are not sent to Google Gemini.
Who is responsible. This Venue is normally responsible for this guest experience. Sergio/Antaris processes the data for the Venue. See the Venue name and privacy contact shown below, then read the full notice.
The venue’s name, privacy contact and address are shown on its Sergio page, under this notice.
1. What this notice covers
This notice applies when you use the Sergio QR guest experience at a restaurant, wine retailer, supermarket or other participating customer location (Venue). It supplements the Venue’s own privacy information and the Sergio Privacy Notice.
Sergio is operated by Antaris Labs SRL, Avenue de Tervueren 242, box 005, 1150 Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, Brussels, Belgium, CBE/KBO 1036.755.202, VAT BE 1036.755.202. You can contact Antaris about privacy at privacy@sergiosommelier.com.
The particular Venue shown above normally decides to offer the QR experience and use venue-specific insights. It is therefore normally the controller for this guest processing. Antaris normally acts as processor for the Venue under a data processing agreement. If the actual arrangement for a Venue differs, the Venue will make that clear in its own privacy information.
2. What Sergio does—and does not do
Sergio shows up to three informational wine suggestions from the Venue’s own wine list. It uses the preferences you select in the current session and available wine/menu information to provide those suggestions.
Sergio:
- uses automated/AI-supported wine-profile matching and, where used, AI-assisted translation;
- is not an open-ended conversational chatbot;
- does not make a decision with legal or similarly significant effects about you;
- does not sell, order, reserve, collect payment for, deliver or serve alcohol;
- does not send an order to the Venue when you use “show your waiter”; and
- does not promise that a wine, vintage, price or availability shown is current or suitable for you.
The Venue sells and serves any alcohol under its own licence and rules. Ask the Venue’s staff to confirm price, availability and suitability. Sergio is not medical, allergy, dietary, pregnancy or responsible-consumption advice.
3. Data recorded in the QR experience
For the relevant Venue, the QR experience can record the following limited session-level data:
| Data | Why it is used |
|---|---|
| Random session identifier generated afresh on a page load | Separates current-session interactions without creating a guest account or persistent profile |
| Date/time, Venue and event type | Runs the feature, protects the service and produces limited venue-specific insights |
| Language selection | Displays the experience in the selected language and helps the Venue understand language use in aggregate |
| Broad food-category, taste, wine-type, serving-format and number-of-choice selections | Produces the suggestions and permitted venue-specific insights |
| Recommendation labels/wine identifiers | Shows the suggestions and helps the Venue understand the use of its list |
| Whether a wine was opened or “show your waiter” was used | Helps the Venue understand use of the QR experience; no order is sent |
The QR application is designed not to collect your name, email address, telephone number, payment details, booking, loyalty identifier, table number, precise location, persistent device ID or free-text profile. It does not save IP address, browser or device details in the QR event record.
Separate hosting, security and network providers can process IP address and technical request information in their own technical logs. The Sergio Privacy Notice gives further information about that processing.
A random session ID and timestamps can sometimes make a record capable of being singled out or linked in context. We therefore do not describe raw session records as anonymous.
4. Purpose, legal basis, access and retention
The Venue processes QR data on the basis of its legitimate interests in giving you the wine suggestions you request and in understanding, in aggregate, how its wine list is used. The processing is limited to the data described in this notice; it does not use your name or create a persistent guest profile. You may object at any time by contacting the Venue using the details shown above. If you object, the Venue will assess your request under applicable data-protection law.
Antaris processes this information on the Venue’s documented instructions. The Venue’s authorised users can see only their Venue’s insights. Antaris may use only irreversibly anonymised, aggregated information for cross-venue operational statistics; raw guest event data are not used for Antaris model training or cross-venue analytics while they remain personal data.
Raw QR event data are automatically deleted after 90 days. Technical-security logs and provider recovery or resilience copies may have different retention periods, as described in the Sergio Privacy Notice. The Venue may have its own retention information for its separate systems.
5. AI, translation and Google Gemini
Sergio uses automated, AI-supported matching of wine profiles and available information to generate suggestions. That transparency is provided so that you understand the role of automation in the experience.
Guest session data are not sent to Google Gemini. Google Gemini may be used separately when a Venue asks Sergio to process the Venue’s own documents, photos, wine information or menu text. A configured feature may use Google Search grounding or a preview model; these remain subject to human review. That separate processing is covered by the Venue’s relationship with Sergio and does not use your QR session selections.
6. Food preferences and sensitive information
Please use only the broad choices offered. Do not provide information that reveals a health condition, allergy, religion, philosophical belief or other sensitive information. The QR experience is designed not to ask for that information.
If an output or menu item appears to relate to an allergy or dietary need, do not rely on the QR experience. Speak directly with Venue staff before making any consumption decision.
7. Device storage, security and choices
The QR experience does not set cookies or write persistent local storage for guest profiling. It installs no service worker and writes no Cache Storage. It uses the short-lived technical functions needed to display the requested page.
The relevant Cookie & Device Storage Notice explains the technology inventory and how to manage any optional choice. We do not use advertising cookies, marketing pixels or non-essential analytics in the QR experience unless they are first disclosed and subject to the required consent controls.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability and complaint. Because the Venue is normally controller for this QR processing, you can contact the Venue using the details shown above.
You may also contact Antaris at privacy@sergiosommelier.com. We will help route the request and assist the Venue as required by the data-processing agreement. As Sergio does not create a persistent guest account, we may ask for limited context to locate a session, such as the Venue, approximate date/time and the choices/interaction you remember. We will not ask for unnecessary identification information solely to create a link that does not otherwise exist.
You can lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority at www.dataprotectionauthority.be, or with the data-protection authority in your habitual residence, workplace or place of the alleged infringement.
9. Questions or incorrect information
For a question about the Venue’s wine list, price, availability, sale/service of alcohol or an incorrect listing, speak to the Venue’s staff. For privacy questions about Sergio, contact privacy@sergiosommelier.com.
